Peter Schaffer's classic play set among the rumour and scandal of 18th-century Vienna, where the young Amadeus Mozart has come to make his name while rival composer Antonnio Salieri struggles in the shadows. This March, as part of the Mozart in Music City series*, we're proud to be involved with yet another Blackbird production: Peter Shaffer's Tony Award-winning Amadeus. The complex relationship between genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and rival composer Antonio Salieri is the basis for Amadeus, the hit play by Peter Shaffer. Inspired from a short 1830 play by Alexander Pushkin called Mozart and Salieri, Amadeus, by British playwright Peter Shaffer, was first performed in 1979. As you're probably aware, Amadeus (the basis of the 1984 film) tells the tale of the many of you back for AMADEUS on March 9 and the talkback afterward.
